Staying Alive: Post CPR care
23 May | Vet Nurse Members
We resuscitate 34-45% of cardiac arrest patients, but only 2-10% survive to discharge. Managing post-cardiac arrest syndrome may improve this. Key goals for the first 12 hours post-CPR include restoring perfusion, oxygenation, and ventilation, and addressing the arrest cause. The veterinary team must manage ischaemia, re-perfusion injuries, and acute organ damage. A care bundle for post-arrest patients could boost survival rates. Ethical considerations, owner communication, and specialist referrals are also crucial. This webinar will cover ischaemia, re-perfusion injury, care bundles, and include a case study.
