Ian is a practising Veterinary surgeon and co-owner of the Mount Veterinary Practice in Fleetwood. He has a master’s degree in veterinary Parasitology and is chair of the European Scientific Counsel of Companion Animal Parasites (ESCCAP). Ian has over 130 published peer reviewed articles and papers and is an editorial board member for the Companion animal journal. He continues to carry out research in practice including work on intestinal nematodes and ticks.

Marisol graduated as a vet from the University of Liverpool in 2002 and worked in small animal primary care, including university, emergency and charity practice settings for over 10 years before returning to academia to pursue a growing research interest in global health, infectious diseases and epidemiology. She completed an MSc in International Animal Health (University of Edinburgh, 2013), MRes in Clinical Sciences (University of Liverpool, 2015) and PhD (Epidemiology of E. granulosus in UK, University of Liverpool, 2019). She has since combined roles in practice and academia as clinical teaching fellow, then lecturer and module lead in veterinary epidemiology and population medicine at Harper Keele Veterinary School before recently returning once more to her Alma Mater as lecturer in clinical skills and subject lead for pharmacology at the University of Liverpool.

Dr Laura Nabarro graduated from Imperial College London, before training in the UK and India. She is now a consultant in Parasitology, Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD), UCLH and leads the diagnostic parasitology service at HTD. Laura also leads the echinococcosis and neuroparasitology multidisciplinary team at HTD, and is Consultant Specialty Lead for Parasitology at Health Services Laboratory (HSL).
Laura has been published in numerous journals including the Journal of Infection, Practical Neurology and Clinical Infectious Diseases. Her research interests include Echinococcosis, diagnostic parasitology, and drug resistance in parasites.

Professor Peter Chiodini is Director of the Diagnostic Parasitology Laboratory at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prior to that, he spent 37 years as a practising clinician at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, with special interests in malaria and hydatid disease. In 2018 he was awarded an OBE for services to parasitology and malaria.
