All Things Capnography
Assessment, Troubleshooting & Treatment
FREE EVENT in association with ManyPets
This lecture will be divided into 2 sections, followed by an interactive component between both speakers.
The first section will focus on defining what capnography is and how it is placed on the patient, followed by troubleshooting of the actual equipment itself.
The second section will cover a basic overview of what ETCO2 represents, the negative consequences of hypercapnia and a review on the normal capnograph trace.
The interactive session will initially run through the most common capnograph traces before tackling those âbeyond the textbookâ - real life capnographs which may be a bit more tricky to troubleshoot and treat.
The purpose of the session is to cement the essential physiology behind how the capnograph works as well as being able to identify the normal from the abnormal and their urgency in terms of troubleshooting and treating. Hopefully the end result will remove any fear associated with this essential piece of anaesthetic monitoring and enable the user to exploit it to its full potential.

Following on from her residency, Daisy headed the anaesthesia team at Fitzpatrick Referrals working at both the orthopaedic and neurology hospital and the soft tissue and oncology hospital. During her time at Fitzpatrick Referrals, she obtained her European specialist status in June 2021.
Daisy left the orthopaedic and neurology hospital in December 2022 to work solely at the soft tissue site (renamed AURA veterinary). She left the team there and started at Blaise referrals in November 2023, which is a relatively new referral hospital located in the midlands.
Daisy has a particular interest in acute and chronic pain medicine as well as the anaesthetic management of patients undergoing invasive vascular surgeries.

Lauren qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2013 and soon developed a keen interest in anaesthesia and emergency and critical care.
