ESCCAP Chairman and Director, Veterinary Surgeon & Parasitologist

Ian is a practising Veterinary surgeon and co-owner of the Mount Veterinary Practice in Fleetwood.

He has a master’s degree in veterinary Parasitology and is chair of the European Scientific Counsel of Companion Animal Parasites (ESCCAP).

Ian has over 130 published peer reviewed articles and papers and is an editorial board member for the Companion animal journal. He continues to carry out research in practice including work on intestinal nematodes and ticks.

Cat graduated from the University of Bristol Veterinary School in 2003 and has spent her career working in small animal practice. She began in a large, busy hospital in the West Midlands before moving into freelance work, gaining broad experience across a wide range of settings—from charity clinics to referral centres. Around a decade ago, Cat returned to her hometown of Dronfield to be closer to family.

Cat holds an additional qualification in Small Animal Medicine and is a member of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Global Nutrition Committee. Her clinical interests include the care of senior pets, nutrition and dentistry, and she is particularly passionate about improving pet owner communication and collaborative care to support the best possible outcomes. Many will also recognise Cat from social media as “Cat The Vet”, where she shares regular, practical insights on pet health, welfare and nutrition.

European and RCVS recognised Specialist in Veterinary Internal Medicine

Rory graduated from the Veterinary College of Ireland, University College Dublin. He completed his internship there and following a period of time in first opinion small animal practice in West London, undertook residency training at the University of Glasgow.

He was awarded the RCVS and European College Diplomas in small animal medicine in 2006. He subsequently became head of the small animal medicine service and Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow prior to joining Dick White Referrals as a senior clinician. He joined Wear Referrals in 2016 to establish the medicine service there before leaving to develop Swift Referrals.
