How do you get the most out of the exploratory laparotomy? This is one of the most common procedures a veterinary surgeon will perform but what can we do to optimise the outcome of the procedure?

Tips and tricks on how to improve visualisation, retractors, biopsy of different organs and structures will be presented here, giving you confidence that you can provide your patients with the best possibleĀ  care and chance of diagnosis and or treatment. Do not be scared of the long incision. Is the falciform fat really needed or just in the way, how do you slow down a liver that is bleeding and what do pilots and surgeons have in common?
