Webinar Talk Summary

Join Edinburgh Vet School Senior Nutrition Nurse, Susan Campbell for this masterclass in nursing the fat-sensitive patient.

When it comes to gastrointestinal problems, dietary fat matters. Many every-day GI problems such as gastritis and vomiting can benefit from a reduced level of fat in the diet, to help lessen the workload of the gut and support return to optimal digestion.

Some conditions can benefit from the further restriction of fat, from primary conditions such as hyperlipidaemia, to pancreatitis and lymphangiectasia resulting from protein-losing enteropathy.

But how do you choose the best diet for each patient, when every case is different? And how do you transition and then guide the pet owner on ongoing management, so that both patient and carer needs are catered for. How do you decide whether temporary or ongoing feeding management is necessary?

Join us for Susan’s expert perspectives on how she selects appropriate dietary care for the fat-sensitive patient and guides and monitors her patients and supports pet carers through her nurse clinics.
